PATHWAYS TO WORK

WORK PROGRAM

Pathways to Work/Paid Internship Program (PIP)

The purpose of the Pathways to Work program is to assist adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in obtaining paid employment in an integrated and competitive setting. Initially, the consumer will be supported by a Job Coach.

Affiliated with Pathways to Work is the Paid Internship Program (PIP), which allows Interns to be placed in a job with a community-based employer with the support of a Job Coach. During the internship the Intern’s wages are reimbursed by Kern Regional Center. The anticipated outcome is that the Intern will develop vocational skills and experience necessary to secure traditional competitive paid employment either with the internship employer or another employer.
